Description:
This course will be targeted at intermediate to advancing improvisers. We will discuss and apply harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic materials that pushed the boundaries and expanded the creative and expressive palette of cutting edge jazz since 1960. Nothing will be purely theoretical. Every step will include ways to practice and apply new sounds to your language. Pentatonic scales, triad pairs, intervallic improvisation, free improvisation, playing in and out, odd meters and rhythmic displacement … We live in a post-bop world!
